CAASPP Testing Countdown - Reminders for Staff
  • Testing starts on Tuesday, April 23rd (Remember - there is no school on Friday, 4/19 and Monday, 4/22)
  • Teachers will administer the test to their 4th period students (just like we do for the MAP)
  • Anticipate early finisher activities - NO TECHNOLOGY
  • We aren’t distributing snacks - see the Letter Mailed to Families with reminders for staff to repeat this week.
  • Quick Start Guides provide step-by-step instructions for how to accomplish a task or activity within California’s assessment programs.
  • Sample Questions for students to work on this week can be found HERE

A Reminder About Accommodations:
  • What are Accessibility Resources? A set of universal tools—such as a digital notepad and scratch paper—are available to all students.
  • Designated supports—like a translated pop-up glossary—are available to students for whom a need has been identified by school personnel familiar with each student’s needs and testing resources.
  • Accommodations are available to students with a documented need noted in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan. Accommodations include Braille and closed captioning, among others.
  • The Individual Student Assessment Accessibility Profile (ISAAP) tool and training module support educators in selecting accessibility resources that match student access needs

**Please review your 4th period roster for who may have Accommodations. If you are not sure, please contact Admin or the student’s case manager.

Climate and Conduct: Actionable, from Last Tuesday’s Meeting: Class Suspensions
  1. Class Suspensions, Pt. 1: We will have a “crystal-all” Google Chat for all staff to use to announce that a student has been class suspended per Ed Code. This will improve the communication chain and addresses the problem for when class suspended students find their way back to class prematurely. Google chats are a function of your district email account. If you don't know how it works, ask anyone in the office.
  2. Class Suspensions, Pt. 2: When a student is class suspended, per Ed. Code, a behavior contract for the student will be created and a meeting with the parent, student, teacher and admin will be scheduled for as soon as possible. This ensures that proper communication with the parent and the student will take place before the student returns to class.

Climate and Conduct: True But Not Yet Actionable, from Last Tuesday’s Meeting
  • Students seizing power and control from the learning environment
  • Profanity
  • Threats
  • Other students fearful on campus
  • Teachers hesitating to discipline students

More analysis is needed before these issues become actionable. A survey to understand these issues will be administered. Solutions will be designed and ready for action as a result.
