February 4 to 8

Insights to Behavior
As discussed at our Faculty Meetings, the site license for "Insights to Behavior" has been acquired with Title 1 Funds. Insights to Behavior is an online tool that will help us generate quality behavior plans in less than an hour. The vendor for the product will be on campus Monday, February 4th offering training all day for case managers, counselors, and admin. Effective use of this tool will support all staff and help students with behavioral challenges. More information will be made available to staff at our faculty meeting.

Springboard
Sara Veloz from Buckerfield Consulting will be on campus Tuesday for coaching rounds and again for a 1/2 day training for all Springboard teachers (both Gen Ed & SPED) in the CMS Library on 2/26. The 2/26 date is a departure from the coaching model we've been using to date and is similar to the model we used last year. The office has sent out a schedule for attendees and substitutes have been arranged.

Staff Meeting
Our February Faculty Meeting is this Tuesday, February 5th from 3:15 to 4:45. Please note that all remaining required faculty meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month and all required department meetings are on the third Tuesday of every month (except June).

Academic Language
The use of Academic Language in every classroom is part of the district's LCAP; and has been an ongoing focus for the Learning Walks on our site. To be clear, the use of Academic Language fits in to an effective lesson and what Admin is looking for are: lessons that have language objectives, an instructor actively incorporating the language of their discipline into instruction, and structured language practice to ensure there is an appropriate ratio of teacher to student talk. As part of this focus, Secondary Ed will have Lisa Lewis and Shannon on campus this Thursday to observe for Academic Language. The following sentence frames can help promote academic language:

Yearbook

All staff, please recall that this year's book is not made in class as an elective and the CMS yearbook club is working hard on this year's yearbook outside of class time. The club reminds everyone that we need your help for it to succeed! Please, send Ms. Mikkola any information about any extra curricular clubs and sports that you have, including.
