Week of August 20th to 24

Great First Week
Crystal got off to a great first week, not because we were without challenges, but because everyone worked hard to keep the momentum going and do the best possible job for students. BRAVO COUGAR STAFF!!!!

Announcements:
The MAP Test has been moved back 2 days to start on 8/29...THIS IS BECAUSE ALL CERTIFICATED STAFF are required to be present for the 2nd meeting of the month on Tuesday, August 28 at 3:15 pm in the Library. At this meeting, MAP administration training will be presented. Because of this, a revised MAP test schedule will be updated in the Staff Handbook and communicated early this week.

Evaluation Training:
For people who are being evaluated this year, they will receive mandatory training right after the MAP Training on Tuesday, August 28th, from 4:15 to 4:45. An email notifying individuals that their attendance is required will be sent.  Please note: this training MUST TAKE PLACE for all permanent, probationary, and temporary unit members on the evaluation cycle. Please note, there will be an additional 60 minutes of training for probationary and temporary unit members by November 15.

Data Meetings:
Schedule, Scope: As discussed at our first faculty meeting, all teachers will participate in a one on one meeting with the Principal to look at data; both for our school as a whole and for this year's students. For all of us, meetings will be successful when each teacher internalizes and shares a deep sense of urgency about our school's performance in the RED, and in partnership with admin, sets a clear course for success.

Got ALL the BOOKS and MATERIALS Your Students NEED?
If not, please see your Dept. Chair and communicate if there is ANY component of the Board-adopted curriculum you or your students need. As noted, teachers are expected to use and implement the Board-adopted curriculum in every classroom; moreover, per Ed Code, Williams Posters need to be up, posted and followed with materials for all teachers and students. PLEASE ADVOCATE for the materials, and simply remove last year's poster and replace with the one from your teacher's box.

On Site During Off Hours?
Are you planning to come in over the weekend? You may, but that may require arming/disarming the alarm, located in the office near Donna Johnson's desk. To arm/disarm the alarm, please use your classroom telephone extension number.
Also, please be sure to sign in with the notebook near the keypad and to record your presence in and out. Before leaving and setting the alarm, be sure to check the notebook to make sure no one else is here.

Picture Day - Monday, August 20:
All staff need to have their photo taken in order to create an ID card. In addition, the photo you take will be used for our website's online directory. Please come down during your prep, lunch, etc and get your picture taken in the gym.
SPED teachers have a caseload that is accurate
Teachers, please continue to work together to take attendance and thank you for your patience as rosters are being configured. Next step for staff will be to receive the "IEP at a Glance", as discussed at our faculty meeting. After receiving the IEP at a Glance, if you have any questions about how to accommodate the student's unique needs, see admin or the student's case manager.
