 Staff Handbook
The CMS Staff Handbook has been updated extensively over the summer. This year's handbook is a comprehensive resource for all staff to rely on all year long. To help navigate the 100 pages, the table of contents is hyperlinked to each topic. Ctrl-F is also handy to search for specific words. At our first faculty meeting on Tuesday, we will go over the handbook's new information for 2018 - 19.

 Obtaining Permission to Use Images of Staff
As noted in the section of the Handbook called, "CMS Digital Messaging Guidelines", staff requesting not to have their personal image(s) disclosed on CMS official social media channels should inform CMS Admin as soon as possible. 

 Directory Photos on our Website
Under the tab "Directory" on our website, contact and directory information has been updated with a complete listing of our entire classified and certificated staff. Beginning this week, CMS Admin will be collecting profile pictures of all staff to add to the Directory page. This will be for students, parents, and staff  to match a name with a face and face with a role on our campus. 

 Mandated Reporter Training
As noted last week, ALL staff must complete the mandated reporter training online. Please visit http://educators.mandatedreporterca.com to complete the training. If confident with the content from multiple years of the training, you can jump forward to the test. Reminder to email your certificate of completion to Secretary Kiana at kianat@fsusd.org by September 7th.

 Classroom & Substitute Lesson Plans
At our June faculty meeting it was announced that all teachers must have their classroom management plans & substitute lesson plans due to Administration by September 4, 2018.
See page 50 of the Staff Handbook for specific criteria for completing both plans and page 55 for sample procedures to be used in classrooms.

Important Upcoming Dates at CMS:
  • August 13th 
  • Certificated staff planning day (no staff meeting)
  • August 14th
  • First Faculty Meeting of the School Year - from 8:30 to 11:30 in the Library (please join us for coffee/breakfast at 8am). 
  • Map Skills Mini PD for Math & Special Education Teachers - from 1:30* (note later time) to 3:30 in the Library; activity TBA for other departments.
  • August 15th


  • Like last year, we are planning on a raucous welcome back to school for our students. Also invited will be members of the Suisun City Council and Police Department and FSUSD Board President David Isom (President Isom is assigned to our school site this year by the Board).

Wednesday is the End of the Semester The aeries grading window is open!   It closes next  Thursday, 12/21/17, at 3pm. Updates from our Community Liaison, Dave Knott: Crystal will hold a Information Assembly in each gym class featuring guest speakers from throughout the community.Our guest speakers will be: Michael Moffat, Senior District Director, Boy Scouts of America, Troop 100 2. This Week is the Great Kindness Challenge Addressing Period Tardies: Our January SMART Goal: By January 30th, reduce the number of students with 10 or more tardies to under 100 students (not counting 1st period) Month Students with 10 or More Tardies January 27 (as of 1/21/20) December 92 November  54 October 115 As you can see, we are on track to meet our SMART goal…. More good news in January. Our referrals are down... Curiously, our Cougar Credit points given to students are down as well... The kids are responding with better behavior. We just need to keep up the positive praise! If we continue to promote positive behavior (giving points), we can assume that there will be fewer referrals and fewer tardies!!
