Title 1 Program Update: Mental Health Clinician Services to Reach 1.4 FTE This Week
Kim Holland, our 1.0 FTE Mental Health Clinician is scheduled to return to campus this week. Danielle Slade, our 0.4 FTE Mental Health Clinician has already been on campus. Together, they are scheduled to be working out of G102. This room also doubles as our Conference Room before and after school and a workorder has been placed to have teachers' keys work to access the room. In every instance our Mental Health Clinicians are working with a student, please do not enter G102, unless they open the door for you to allow you in. In addition, please see the "Conference Room" Calendar to minimize confusion. Thank you to all for respectfully sharing our limited space.Title 1 Program Update: Math
At our September SSC Meeting, the proposal to have Math Professional Development rounds was discussed. Unfortunately, our proposal to have Phil Gonsalves work with our Math teachers fell through. We are actively looking for new opportunity for our Math teachers to participate in. Please stay tuned!Special Education Program Update: School Psychologist
Crystal has the very good fortune to welcome a full-time school psychologist, Marielle Mayorga. Marielle is a former employee at CMS, has extensive knowledge of students and staff, and will be working hard out of the old SRO Office to ensure our IEP's are in compliance. We are so happy to welcome her back! Her email is marieller@fsusd.org and a work order has been created to add her to the "Crystal-All" distribution list.
CMS Learning Walks Data Snapshot (up to date as of 10/30/17):
In this Cult of Pedagogy article, Norman Eng describes how he wrestled with the burden of writing full lesson plans every day, for every class, five days a week. Eventually, he hit upon the idea of formulating lesson plans on three things:
• The What – What do I want my students to know (or do) by the end of class? What is the content knowledge or skill to be learned? – for example, evaluating the credibility of online sources.
• The How – What method, strategy, tool, or activity will ensure they reach the goal?
• The Why – So what? What is the ultimate purpose for learning this content or skill? What’s in it for students? How will they benefit?
Here is his template for the "One Sentence Lesson Plan":
