What happened if a Teacher is out or sick during MAP Testing?
  • If a teacher is out/sick, a proctor from a classroom who has two Proctors will go to administer the MAP Test.

What do we do If a student doesn’t have a Chromebook?
  1. Find out exactly where the Chromebook is, if possible (home, a friend, in a car,...?)
  2. Use Crystal-All Google Messenger to inform staff of the situation, where the Chromebook is believed to be and the student’s name
  3. Admin will immediately call the parent to request that the chromebook is found and brought to school
  4. Inform the student that she/he will have to wait in the classroom for support and give them a quiet alternate activity

What do we do if the student Chromebook is not charged?
  1. Use Crystal-All Google Messenger to inform staff of the situation and the student’s name.
  2. Write the student a pass and send them to the Library to check out a charger.
  3. The student will then return to your class to take the test. You will likely need to seat them near an outlet or power strip.

What do we do with a disruptive student?
  1. Use the Google Chat with Admin to request a Support Call
  2. Admin will conduct the Support Call protocol
  3. If the disruptive behavior continues and the student is removed to an alternative setting, KEEP THE TEST SESSION OPEN. The student will continue working in the test session started in the classroom.
  4. Create a behavioral referral

What do we do if a student has to use the bathroom?
  1. Write them a pass
  2. Send only one student at a time to the bathroom from your class

January Department Chair Meeting: Tuesday January 14, 2020
  • Data Dashboard Discovery
  • Explore needs from the Safe School Plan
  • Review departmental SMART Goals
  • Supporting departments’ use of common interim assessment data
  • Furthering school wide implementation of academic conversations
  • Prepare for the Learning Walks on 1/22/20

New procedure for faculty meetings… if there is a topic you wish to discuss during a faculty meeting, please let us know!  SHARE YOUR IDEAS ON THIS INPUT FORM. Our next faculty meeting is February 4th!

January Learning Walks
The focus on Academic Conversations continues with our Learning Walks. Like last time, we again will have two subs. The opportunity to be observed and immediately have feedback provided by a colleague is entirely optional and non evaluative. The sign ups for teachers to participate is located here.

Comprehensive Safe School Plan Updates and Clarifications
Based on feedback from staff and analysis by the Safety Committee, our school’s three highest priorities for site level changes and improvements are:
  1. Roles need to be assigned  in the event of a campus wide evacuation to properly administer a dismissal following a disaster. Training for staff in each role needs to be provided.
  2. Explicit instruction for students needs to be provided to improve tolerance and non-discriminatory language and behaviors from students and to address the needs of socially awkward students.
  3. Explicit training for staff and students on anti-bullying and restorative justice implementation.

Other Safety Considerations:
  • SRO Program with Suisun PD - Back in February, the district and the City of Suisun agreed to put a hold on the SRO program, primarily due to staffing shortages with SPD. The program has not been restarted and the district is not paying for it. With a new chief and funding for a cadet program, SPD is working to be fully staffed. Until further notice, support from SPD will continue to based on calls for service without an SRO assigned to Suisun City schools.
  • Active Shooter and Lockdown Drill - We are looking to hold another Active Shooter/Lockdown drill in partnership with FSUSD Risk Management, SPD and SFD in February. Like last year, we will prepare for the drill together at our February faculty meeting.
  • New Law on Suspensions: Senate Bill 419 bans schools from suspending students in grades 4-8 for disrupting school activities or willfully defying school authorities, including teachers and staff, in violation of Ed Code Section 48900 (k). ... Existing law also prevents schools from recommending the expulsion of students in all grades for disrupting or willful defiance, also 48900(k). Bullying is a different category of behavior, and is subject to suspension for violation of Ed Code Section 48900(r).
  • Locker Room Locks: A request replace the toggle lock with a key lock on both locker rooms so that students can't unlock the door and enter the gym from the locker rooms has been approved and is pending installation from the district locksmith (boys’ has been fixed already).
  • Side Gate Lock: There is an approved work order to replace the tumbler style locks on the side gate entry from (access from the side parking lot), and replace it with a lock that is only activated with a key and remains locked when the key is removed. To pay for the $1,200 repair, we will need to pay with 1100 funds.
  • Evacuation Map: The evacuation map will be updated to show that the direct route for some classes will be through the fire lane gate. All staff have a padlock key issued to them that will open the padlocks on the gate. See Kiana for key questions.
  • Feedback and suggestions from staff on the Comprehensive Safe Schools Plan are being worked in to an updated document. Feel free to share with Safety Committee members Katie Molina, Kayla Mikkola, Bryce Tomas, Heather Scicluna, Sarah Ruiz, Joe Guillory, Sue Olivares and/or Admin any further ideas, suggestions or concerns on campus safety.
