Welcome to April! It’s CAASPP Testing Season!
Please explore these reports and know where your students are for fine tuning of skills to be tested on the CAASPP.
Teachers, please share practice problems from SmarterBalanced.org with your 4th period students to help them alleviate anxiety about the upcoming test.

Network Upgrades
Over Spring Break, TSS performed a significant upgrade to the network at our site.
Their work involved cleaning up, simplifying, changing configurations, and updating the networking equipment located at each wing of the school. Look for better performance from the devices on campus.
Chromebook Upgrades
Going forward, whenever Google publishes an update for the ChromeOS, it is downloaded in the background on to our ChromeBooks, allowing ChromeBooks to be updated in a non-intrusive way and to ensure that they are fully updated for testing.
In addition, when the lid of a ChromeBook is closed, the student is logged out.  When the lid is opened again, students will need to log in again. This change protects students from unintentionally leaving their device logged in and allowing others to unintentionally access their account.


Chromebooks & Testing
Our CAASPP Testing window begins the Week of April 22nd. Please display a reminder to have students bring Chromebooks for testing. The CAASPP earbuds for the ELA portion of the test will be delivered to sites by the TSS technicians this week.

Got an IEP Invite? Reminder to Complete Rating Scales.
Teachers, when you receive a Google Form requesting feedback on a student’s present levels of performance, PLEASE complete the form promptly. Your feedback on present levels provides a snapshot of the student’s performance, including the activities the student can and cannot do. This information serves as a foundation for the development of goals and benchmarks in the IEP. Your feedback on present levels of performance is required for a good IEP and for good teamwork with fellow staff!

Bike Mobile Coming to CMS
In partnership with Safe Routes to School Solano, Crystal is hosting the Bay Area Bikemobile on April 10th from 3 to 6pm. The team of bike mechanics will be offering free bike repairs for the first 20 students/families that sign up and bring their bikes to our campus. Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is funding the visit from the Bike Mobile to promote bicycling to school, reducing traffic and greenhouse gas emission and promoting exercise.

Upcoming District Reclassification Ceremony
CMS Students that have met the district’s English Learner Reclassification Criteria are being honored for their outstanding achievement at the FSUSD Reclassification Ceremony on April 16th at 6:30. The ceremony will be held at the Fairfield Community Center. Please consider volunteering at this special event to honor our students that are bilingual!

The rescheduled UC Berkeley Summit is this Friday, April 5th. Students from the College & Career Club, Leadership and other student groups will be attending the annual UC Berkeley Summit field trip with Counselor Nashir, Imran Ereiqat our CAL-Soap Tutor and David Knott.

This Week is the Great Kindness Challenge Addressing Period Tardies: Our January SMART Goal: By January 30th, reduce the number of students with 10 or more tardies to under 100 students (not counting 1st period) Month Students with 10 or More Tardies January 27 (as of 1/21/20) December 92 November  54 October 115 As you can see, we are on track to meet our SMART goal…. More good news in January. Our referrals are down... Curiously, our Cougar Credit points given to students are down as well... The kids are responding with better behavior. We just need to keep up the positive praise! If we continue to promote positive behavior (giving points), we can assume that there will be fewer referrals and fewer tardies!!
