Honors Assembly on Friday February 1st during 1st, 2nd & 3rd period. Students with a first semester GPA of 3.0 or higher, were Reclassified English Proficient, or have perfect attendance will be recognized at this assembly. Parents have been mailed invitation letters with more information.


MAP - How Did CMS Students Perform?

There was a lot of positive responses heard on campus about the MAP. Many students were recognized Friday for improving their RIT scores in Math and English. In addition to looking at each class' summary report, CMS Admin is looking at our school’s overall performance and using the results to formulate a Theory of Action to implement for the 2018 2019 school year. College and Career Updates:
“Steps to College” is this Saturday, February 2nd
This event is for students interested in a “mini-college” fair working in partnership with the Mexican Consulate happening in Sacramento. First priority is for students who are English Learners and students in the College & Career Club. We need at least 25 participants (parents and students) at minimum in order to secure transportation and participate in the event.
UC Berkeley Summit, Friday, February 14th
The annual UC Berkeley Summit is happening on Friday, February 14th. Students that are English Learners, students with perfect or strongly improved attendance, Leadership students, and/or Students of the Month will fill out the roster joining the College and Career club on this trip to visit UC Berkeley to experience higher education on the campus.


**Please send students with completed permission slips to the office to turn them in.


Rebranding CMS
All Staff, Nicole Dean will be on campus to photo our school and help with our brand on Social Media. Want to be featured? Please let admin know or send an email to Nicole (nicolede@fsusd.org) so she can photograph you and your students demonstrating “Strong Bonds, Overcoming Challenges Together”.

 Mandated Reporter
If you received an email from Kiana last Thursday at 2:16pm, it is because we do not have your 2018/2019 Mandated Reporter Certificate on file with HR or on site. This means you need to complete the training. The training is accessible at http://mandatedreporterca.com. The specific training required is the Educators Training Module. Please submit the completed Mandated Reporter Certificates to Kiana no later than February 1, 2019.


Math Professional Development
CMS Math Department Chair Jennifer Warner and colleague Sue Kinder are going to do Professional Development on Jan 31st with separate activities for grades 6, 7 and 8. Attendees will have time to MEET and WORK with grade level peers.  The description is in PD Place for January 31st from 3:45 to 5 at District Office room 319.

Yearbook
All staff, please recall that this year's book is not made in class as an elective and the CMS yearbook club is working hard on this year's yearbook outside of class time. The club reminds everyone that we need your help for it to succeed! Please, send Ms. Mikkola any information about any extra curricular clubs and sports that you have, including.

Department Chair Meeting Rather than pull Department Chairs in to a meeting to look at our data, all Department Chairs will receive a binder/packet with our school's data to review, reflect and share with their respective department members. All data tells a story, and ours does too. Please see your Department Chair to find out more. Please note, our Faculty Meeting for January is on Tuesday, January 30th. Upcoming TEAM Workshop on LGBT/SSOGIE on Wednesday at 3:30 in the Grange Library.  T.E.A.M. workshops are designed to bring caregivers, families and staff together as we support students throughout the school year. Meetings are once a month and qualify for salary credit or buyback hours for those that attend. For staff, meetings run from 3:30 to 5pm.
