Welcome Back and Happy 2019! MAP Test Teachers - At this Tuesday's Staff Meeting, you will have the opportunity to earn a prize and become certified as a "Crystal Middle School MAP Test Administrator". How? All teachers will be given a certification exam based on the " MAP Administration Handbook ". Proctoring, troubleshooting and contingency procedures are all covered in the Handbook. This is not an open book exam - STUDY and KNOW the contents of your MAP Handbook, get certified and earn a reward!  All Staff MAP Test FYI: See the Q&A For All Staff & the Dialer Script sent out to families starting on 1/6/19 and repeatedly through the end of the window. We will have a prize for all students that bring a charged Chromebook ready for the test each day!!  Update Your Calendar! Wednesday is the End of the Semester The Aeries grading window is open!  It closes this Thursday, 12/22/9, at 3pm. Reminder!  Thursday is a Teacher Workday. Welcome New Staff - Mr. Edward (Ed) Fee is our newest certificated staff member! Mr. Fee is teaching RSP and will take over the line left by Michaela Meeter. Ed has a lot of family history, both current and long standing, in the district. Be sure to ask him about his connection to the CMS Library. Welcome Ed Fee! Joining the CMS Admin Team again is John McMorris. He is taking over Krista's admin duties. He did a great job when Monifa was out on maternity leave. Welcome back McMorris! The Campus Looks Great! - Over the break, Joe G. and the custodial team did a nice job sprucing up the classrooms and grounds. Our school looks great! In addition, thanks to FSUSD M/O, we have a new floor in Room E204! The position for the 1.0 FTE in that classroom for Science is still open on Edjoin, fyi. Bring A Treat is Now. .. Good Attendance! 2 Crystal Students won the Attendance Poster Contest through SCOE. They will be recognized at the Board meeting this week and their art will be in next year's SCOE calendar. Springboard Implementation Walk - November 8th CIA staff will be at our site this Thursday for a Springboard Implementation Walk. CIA staff and admin will walk ELA classrooms with the Springboard representative.The  Implementation Walk packet  includes the documents we will use in classroom walk observations. The goal is to look for school and district trends Run, Hide, Fight Please see the refresher video on Run, Hide, Fight training video if you haven't seen it already. Updates on the Chromebooks ALL Students should have their Chromebook checked out to them UNLESS the parent has  specifically  requested not to per the waiver. If the parent has specifically requested not to have the CB checked out:  send  admin the list of names and we will call the parent and work with the parent to find a solution.  CHROMEBOOK REMINDER:  The CB's may not be kept on campus. Students must take them back and forth with their charger. All students must take their Chromebook home every day.  We want to them develop responsible habits completing tasks, bringing materials to class, make effective use of their time and develop good self discipline.  Teachers may not store them in classroom lockers on behalf of students. If a student is struggling with irresponsibility, we need to create short-term goals to provide immediate success.
