I am very thankful to be on the staff at Crystal Middle School!

The employees that work here are the most resilient and hardest working anywhere. Last week together, I was very thankful for everyone's flexibility, resiliency and professionalism with so many professional developments going on. We did a great job moving our school forward! For those participating in the Springboard/ELA Training with Sara Veloz, she will be back for "coaching days" on December 4th (for new teachers & dept. chairs) and on December 19th for grade 6 & 7 ELA teachers.

Department Meetings This Tuesday

A reminder that Department Meetings are this Tuesday, November 28th. All teachers should be present and accounted for at department meetings to fulfill their second after school meeting of the month.

Title 1 Program Updates: Math with ???

We are still seeking to find a way to support Math instruction for our students using Title 1 funds. Our first two proposals to work with a consultant have not panned out. At our December Site Council meeting, we will look at a Math Intervention program called Ascend Math. If you have some ideas for supporting math instruction, please share your ideas with administration!


Title 1 & PBIS Program Updates: PBIS App called "SSICA"

Earlier in the year, the PBIS team discussed this software which allows scanning of student ID's for positive behavior support and to notify parents of an addition or deduction of points. It's currently in use at Armijo, Rodriguez and Grange. The PBIS team and the Site Council will look at whether to purchase the software and if it is feasible to launch mid year.

Department Chair Meeting Rather than pull Department Chairs in to a meeting to look at our data, all Department Chairs will receive a binder/packet with our school's data to review, reflect and share with their respective department members. All data tells a story, and ours does too. Please see your Department Chair to find out more. Please note, our Faculty Meeting for January is on Tuesday, January 30th. Upcoming TEAM Workshop on LGBT/SSOGIE on Wednesday at 3:30 in the Grange Library.  T.E.A.M. workshops are designed to bring caregivers, families and staff together as we support students throughout the school year. Meetings are once a month and qualify for salary credit or buyback hours for those that attend. For staff, meetings run from 3:30 to 5pm. Wednesday is the End of the Semester The aeries grading window is open!   It closes next  Thursday, 12/21/17, at 3pm.
