March 5th - 9th

It Is College and Career Spirit Week!

Intervention Opportunities For Our Stakeholders

1. Math - After School Tutoring

Ms. Lay & Ms. Lipsey will provide after school tutoring using Skills Navigator. Please read the attached memo and forward all returned slips to Ms. Lay in D104. Our Cal/SOAP tutor Saeed will provide homework help to students attending. Please encourage all students you can think to attend!

2. Extended School Year (ESY) During Spring Break - Applications Still Open for this great opportunity!

Attendance Matters

11 truant CMS students improved their attendance to over 80% in February and earned a pizza party... two of them won the raffle for new bikes!

Why is this important?

  • Pre-kindergarten students who are chronically absent are less likely to read proficiently by the end of third grade
  • By sixth grade chronic absenteeism is one of three early warning indicators that influence whether a student will graduate from high school
  • By ninth grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation than eighth grade test scores

Math Department Updates

Mr. Baynard will be subbing for Terry Murray while she is out on leave.
An official welcome to Michelle Victorio - she has accepted the 8th Grade Math, Robotics and Computer Science position.

The California Health Kids Survey

7th grade Science teachers will administer it to students beginning this week. See our school's website for more details. The requirement for all staff to take it will be offered at the March staff meeting.
